Error Messages:

Newsfeed configuration error
No database record was found for the input feed associated with the output feed you are trying to display. (See the system overview for an explanation of input and output feeds).

To fix this error:
  1. Click "Setup Output" above.
  2. On the line for the newsfeed that is showing an error message, click "Change settings".
  3. Select a newsfeed from the "Newsfeed or Aggregation" list. (If the newsfeed you wish to display does not appear in the list, click either "News Sources" or "Setup Input" and add it to your list of input feeds first).
  4. Click "Update".

Aggregation configuration error
No database record was found for the input feed associated with one of the items in the aggregation list for the output feed you are trying to display. (See the system overview for an explanation of input and output feeds and aggregations).

To fix this error:
  1. Click "Setup Output" above.
  2. On the line for the newsfeed that is showing an error message, click "Setup" in the left-hand column.
  3. If the newsfeed at the top of the "Newsfeed" popup list is listed on more than one line (not counting the last line, which is used to add feeds to the list), one of these is probably the culprit (it probably refers to an input feed that you have deleted). Click "delete" in the right-handle column of the line for all but one of the duplicates, and click "Update" on the line for the remaining one.
  4. Otherwise, if the top newsfeed in the "nNewsfeed" popup is only listed once, either click "delete" or "Update" on that line, depending on whether you want to include that newsfeed in the aggregation or not.

Newsfeed configuration error (aggregation setup not complete)
You have not selected any input feeds to be part of an aggregation that you are attempting to display.

To fix this error:
  1. Click "Setup Output" above.
  2. On the line for the newsfeed that is showing an error message, click "Setup" in the left-hand column.
  3. Select a newsfeed from the "Newsfeed" popup.
  4. Optionally, specify filtering settings.
  5. Click "Add".
  6. Repeat as desired to add more input feeds to the aggregation. Items from each of these feeds will be combined and displayed on your webpage.

Newsfeed #number cannot be displayed in this webpage
Each output feed may only be displayed on one webpage, and the URL of that page must be listed on the Jawfish system. This error message indicates one of the following:
  • Your web browser is reporting an incorrect HTTP "Referer" header, perhaps because of a preference setting that masks the referrer. Jawfish does not work with browsers that mis-report the referring page.
  • You are attempting to display the newsfeed on a different page from the one you told Jawfish it would appear on.
  • You specified the URL of the page where you want to display the newsfeed incorrectly.
  • You forgot to specify the URL fo the page where you want the newsfeed to appear.
To fix this error:
  1. Click "Setup Output" above.
  2. On the line for the newsfeed that is showing an error message, click "Change settings".
  3. Enter the complete URL of your webpage on which you wish to display the newsfeed in the "Display URL" field. Include "index.html", "index.htm", or whatever the name of the page is if it is an index/default page.
  4. Click "Update".

Newsfeed #number is not active
The newsfeed you are attempting to display is not one of your active output feeds. To fix this problem:
  1. Click "Setup Output" above.
  2. Click "Activate" on the line for the newsfeed you are trying to display.
  3. If a message is displayed telling you that you already have the maximum number of active feeds for your subscription level, do one of the following:
    • Click "payments" and increase your subscription level.
    • Deactivate an active output feed which you are not currently displaying on your site by clicking "Deactivate" and then click "Activate" to activate the feed that was showing the message.

News service expired.
Your Jawfish subscription or free trial period has expired. To fix this, go to the Payments page and follow the instructions to make a payment.
Aggregated newsfeeds must use jsa.php (or framea.php) instead of js.php (or frame.php)
The output feed you are attempting to display has been configured as an aggregation of one or more input feeds, but the script, frame, or iframe tag in your webpage is loading the Jawfish script for non-aggregated feeds. To fix this error, edit the script, frame or iframe tag in your webpage, changing "js.php' to "jsa.php" or "frame.php" to "framea.php".
Single-source newsfeeds must use js.php (or frame.php) instead of jsa.php (or framea.php)
The output feed you are attempting to display has been configured as a non-aggregated feed, but the script, frame, or iframe tag in your webpage is loading the Jawfish script for aggregated feeds. To fix this error, edit the script, frame or iframe tag in your webpage, changing "jsa.php' to "js.php" or "framea.php" to "frame.php".
Newsfeed #number not found
The output feed number indicated in the script, frame, or iframe tag on your webpage does not exist in our database.

Top fix this error, get the script, frame, or iframe tag from Jawfish again by doing the following:
  1. Click "Setup Output" above.
  2. If you already have a newsfeed set up for display on your webpage, skip ahead to 'Click "Get Script / Frame / iFrame Tag"...'.
  3. Otherwise, if you have a newsfeed set up which you are not displaying on another webpage:

  5. Select an input feed from the popup if needed.
  6. Enter the complete URL of your webpage on which you wish to display the newsfeed in the "Display URL" field. Include "index.html", "index.htm", or whatever the name of the page is if it is an index/default page.
  7. Click "Update".
  8. Click "Setup Output" above.
  9. Skip ahead to 'Click "Get Script / Frame / iFrame Tag"...'.
  10. Otherwise, click "News Sources" or "Setup Input" above and set up a new input feed and then go back to the previous step.
  11. Click "Get Script / Frame / iFrame Tag" on the line for the newsfeed you are trying to display.
  12. Copy the appropriate tag into your webpage.

No newsfeed specified
The script, frame or iframe tag on your webpage does not indicate which newsfeed to display.

To fix this error:
  1. Click "Setup Output" above.
  2. Click "Get Script / Frame / iFrame Tag" on the line for the newsfeed you are trying to display.
  3. Copy the appropriate tag into your webpage.

News display aborted due to errors
Errors occurred while attempting to access the newsfeeds you are trying to display. This is generally either because the website that publishes the newsfeed you are subscribing to is offline, or because the newsfeed itself no longer appears on the site.

To fix this error:
  1. Try accessing each of the newsfeeds included in your aggregation setup by loading the newsfeed in your web browser or RSS aggregator.
  2. Delete any newsfeeds that fail to load from your aggregation by doing the following, or contact the publisher of the newsfeed to resolve the issue:
    1. Click "Setup Output" above.
    2. On the line for the newsfeed that is showing an error message, click "Setup" in the left-hand column.
    3. Click "delete" in the right-hand column of the line for the feed you wish to remove from your aggregation.

Database error (number)
An error has occurred while attempting to access the database. To fix this error, contact us and let us know the following:
  • The error message including the number in parenthesis.
  • The script, frame or iframe tag you were using to display the newsfeed (this will tell us which script had the error, as well as which of your newsfeeds was to be displayed).
  • The URL of your webpage where the feed is to be displayed.

Invalid newsfeed URL
The URL you entered for your input feed is not valid. Note that if the URL does not contain a path, ie. http://www.example.com, it must end with a slash (/), for example, http://www.example.com/.
Unknown feed type
Jawfish was unable to determine that the URL for your input feed points to a newsfeed in RSS or Atom format. This may indicate that you entered the URL of a webpage instead of the URL of a newsfeed. To fix this error, be sure to enter the URL of an RSS or Atom formatted newsfeed.
